Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the effectiveness of physical therapy in the complex treatment of patients with diagnosed cervical osteochondrosis. The study included a group of patients with cervical osteochondrosis who underwent physical therapy treatment in addition to drug therapy under the supervision of specialists. Changes in general condition, pain syndrome and neck mobility after the use of physical therapy were assessed. The tactics of drug treatment with the inclusion of physical therapy are described, by performing which patients improve their condition and can reduce the negative impact of cervical osteochondrosis.

Osteochondrosis of the cervical spine is a multifactorial disease and is the result of degenerative-dystrophic changes. With osteochondrosis of the cervical spine, a gradual decrease in the height of hyaline intervertebral cartilage is observed. The discs simply wear out and lose their functions over time. The cervical spine has a weak muscular corset and low mechanical strength of the vertebrae, therefore it is the most vulnerable. It is easily injured by a sharp or strong impact, excessive or insufficient extension and flexion of the neck. Having analyzed the results revealed during the study, we can conclude that therapeutic physical culture turned out to be more effective according to all indicators of the state of functional mobility of the cervical spine.

Our results confirm that physical exercise not only helps strengthen the muscular skeleton and correct posture, but also improves blood supply to the upper spine, improves motor activity and the quality of life of patients.
