DIFFERENCES IN HORMONE RECEPTOR STATUS BETWEEN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY TUMOR NODULES IN MULTIFOCAL BREAST CANCER
Keywords:
multicentric, multifocal, breast cancer, histological examination, immunohistochemistry, hormone receptorsAbstract
The aim of the study: To analyze the molecular-biological characteristics of primary and secondary tumors in patients with breast cancer (BC). Material and methods: A retrospective analysis of data from 133 patients treated at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Center of Oncology and Radiology and its branches during 2018-2023 was conducted. Histological and immunohistochemical analyses were performed. Results: When immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis was performed on the primary and secondary tumor nodules, it was confirmed that in cases where ER and PR receptors were not detected in the primary nodule, hormone receptors were positive in the secondary nodule. (p-0.05) Conclusion: If hormone receptors are negative in the primary nodule, it is recommended to perform IHC analysis on the secondary nodule. This is a factor that determines the possibility of including hormone therapy in treatment programs.
