Abstract

Postpartum paresis is an acute, rapidly progressing, and severe disease characterized by a paralysis-like condition affecting the limbs, pharynx, and intestines, along with the suppression of both conditional and unconditional reflexes. It is primarily observed in high-yielding animals, particularly when they are fed large quantities of concentrated feeds without adequate exercise. In the case of postpartum paresis, the main treatment objective is inflating air into the udder. This method was combined with other therapeutic measures. The entire body of the cow, especially the hindquarters, was vigorously massaged using hay bundles. The massage must be thorough. Specific studies have shown that administering 950 units of insulin in cows induces a typical clinical picture of postpartum paresis. After injecting 40 ml of a 20% glucose solution, all symptoms of the disease rapidly disappeared.
