EFFICIENCY OF PLASMAPHORESIS IN PREOPERATIVE PREPARATION OF PATIENTS WITH SEVERE THYROTOXICOSIS

We analyzed the results of treatment of 112 patients with toxic forms of goiter. The use of an improved plasmapheresis method in a group of patients with severe forms of thyrotoxicosis and intolerance to antithyroid drugs leads to euthyroidism, normalization of the cardiovascular system and allows to eliminate cases of thyrotoxic crisis in the early postoperative period. The developed algorithm for choosing the volume of surgical intervention in toxic forms of goiter made it possible to reduce the frequency of immediate postoperative complications from 15.4% to 6.7% and unsatisfactory results in the late postoperative period from 23.1% to 6.7%. Moreover, the quality of life of patients after thyroid surgery showed excellent and good results in the main group in 96.8% of patients, while in the comparison group – 81.8% (χ2 criterion = 43.087; Df=3; p<0.001).
