Abstract

This article investigates the interaction of cognitive and pragmatic approaches within the realm of stylistics, exploring the way these two cross-disciplinary approaches advancing the comprehension of reading and decoding processes connected with literary analysis. Cognitive and pragmatic analysis collectively manifest integrated approach to literary text analysis, merging the methods linguistic analysis along with fundamental principles of cognitive and pragmatic linguistics for gaining a more profound insight into text perception and interpretation processes. The interdisciplinary approach investigates the interplay of textual characteristics, cognitive processes and contextual factors, introducing more universal perspective of literary work interpretation. Cognitive-pragmatic stylistics elucidates the way the literary text operates as an intricate communicative act. The novel approach shifts the focus from traditional models that are geared towards a writer, to reader-oriented approach, underscoring the way text is processes, interpreted and comprehended by a reader. In the long run, this cross-disciplinary extends the understanding of stylistics, bridging the gap between linguistic analysis and cognitive science allowing for more in-depth insight into the interconnection between the literary text and a reader.
