THE ANALYSIS OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS: TRANSLATION CHALLENGES AND APPROACHES

Phraseological units are considered more complex linguistic expressions than lexical units of the language, so their adequate interpretation in translation is one of the most important, but at the same time challenging tasks of translation practice. Serving diverse stylistic functions as artistic and descriptive elements of speech, phraseological units, when translated accurately, contribute to enhancing the figurative and emotional-descriptive essence of literature, and avoiding simplistic and neutral expressions of thought. This article aims to give a comprehensive examination of the challenges that inherit in the translation of phraseological units and offers alternative approaches to overcome these challenges.
