TURKIC BORROWINGS IN THE XVI-XVII CENTURIES IN THE VIEWPOINT OF ENGLISH PEOPLE

The article analyzes the Turkisms adopted into the English language as a result of relations between England and Turkey, their use in the works of English writers and their lexical and grammatical features. Since the 16th century, English writers such as W.Shakespeare (The Merchant of Venice), G. Marlow (The Great Tamburlane), D.Dryden (The Assignation), D.Shirley (Honoria and Mammon) and tourists like W.Biddulph, D.Sandis in their reports and diaries mainly used turkish words related to the description of Turkish reality and the customs of Turkish life.
