STYLISTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TEXT OF JAMES JOYCE` "ULYSSES"

Abstract

Although the work of James Joyce has been studied in English and Russian literature and translation, it has not been studied in detail in Uzbek literature and translation studies. In this work, along with revealing the problems of tradition and innovation in the work of J. Joyce, we study how the stylistic means used in the text of the novel "Ulysses" are preserved in the Russian and Uzbek translations by means of comparative-typological analysis of the original and translated texts. We identify alternatives and non-alternatives to the original Russian and Uzbek translations. At the same time, we are scientifically exploring the principles of achieving alternativeness and adequacy in prose translation. This is the scientific novelty of our work. Following the famous Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906), history rightly called the Irish poet and writer James Joyce (1882-1941) an innovator, thus highlighting one of the brightest features of his work. "Stream of Consciousness" is a method of describing life in the modernist literature of the twentieth century, a conventional term applied to writers and their works, who seek to describe the processes in the human psyche as they really are. James Joyce belongs to a family of artists who have always and everywhere searched for “their roots” and “their word.” He was able to climb peaks that his predecessors had never set foot on because his “Ulysses” was visible from all over the planet.
