Abstract

The quality of reading literacy and understanding of the text in the process of teaching the mother tongue is important. PIRLS provides comparability of the results obtained at different time periods on different samples of subjects using different instruments. assessing the quality of general education in general educational organizations based on the practice of international studies of the quality of training students. The study examines the level and quality of reading and reading comprehension by students completing the fourth grade of primary school in countries with different educational systems. The choice of students in the fourth grade of primary school is explained by the fact that it is precisely in the fourth year of study that students must master reading to such an extent that it becomes a means of further learning and the ability to acquire the knowledge necessary for successful adaptation in the modern world.
