The role of psychological factors in the pathogenesis of precancerous diseases of the reproductive system remains underexplored. The aim of the study was a comparative assessment of the psychoemotional state and biological markers of stress in women with two diseases of different etiologies: human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN, n=38) and endometrial hyperplasia (EH, n=32) associated with hormonal imbalance. Compared to the control group (n=40), both main groups showed significantly higher levels of anxiety and depression on the HADS scale (p<0.001). This psychological distress correlated with a disturbed diurnal profile of the stress hormone cortisol and changes in brain activity on EEG. Regardless of the disease's cause, a "precancerous" diagnosis triggers universal psychosomatic processes. These processes, in turn, are a significant pathogenetic factor that may negatively affect the function of the immune (in the case of CIN) and hormonal (in the case of EH) systems.
