Metabolik assotsirlangan jigar yog’ kasalligi (MAJYK)–keng tarqalgan surunkali kasallik bo’lib, moddalar almashinuvi disfunksiyasi asosida yog’ hujayralarining jigarda yuqori darajada akkumulyatsiyasi bilan xarakterlanadi. So’nggi 10 yillikda MAJYK ning aniqlanish darajasi dunyoning ko’plab mintaqalarida 20% dan yuqori ekanligi va bu ko’rsatkichning dinamikada oshib borayotganligi qayd qilish mumkin. Jigarning noalkogol yog’ kasalligi atamasining MAJYK ga o’zgartirilishi ko’p jihatdan bemor va soha mutaxassislariga yengillik yaratdi. Alkogol so’zining tashxisda ishlatilmasligi bemorlar ruhiyatiga salbiy ta’sir ko’rsatmasdan kasallikni to’g’ri qabul qilinishini ta’minlab bergan bo’lsa, MAJYK da virusli, autoimmun gepatit, alkogolli gepatitlarning ham tashxisot uchun qarshi ko’rsatma emasligi keng qamrovli yondashuvga sabab bo’ladi.
