DYNAMICS OF LIVER FIBROSIS MARKERS AND INSULIN RESISTANCE DURING TREATMENT WITH SODIUM–GLUCOSE COTRANSPORTER 2 (SGLT-2) INHIBITORS

This study evaluated the effect of SGLT-2 inhibitors on liver fibrosis indices (Fib-4, NAFLD fibrosis score) and insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in patients with type 2 diabetes, as well as the correlation between these variables. The results demonstrated a statistically significant decrease in Fib-4 and NFS values following therapy, along with a strong positive correlation between fibrosis indices and HOMA-IR (ρ >0.85; p < 0.001). These findings support the hepatoprotective and metabolic effects of SGLT-2 inhibitors.
