CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GASTRIC MUCOSA IN PATIENTS IN SEVERE CONDITION ON ARTIFICIAL VENTILATION IN THE RESUSCITATION UNIT
Keywords:

The article focuses on the clinical assessment of the gastric mucosa in critically ill patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU). The relevance of this research is determined by the high incidence of gastrointestinal complications in critical illness, associated with multiple organ dysfunction, impaired microcirculation, and stress-induced mucosal injury. The aim of the study was to identify the main morphological alterations of the gastric mucosa and their clinical significance for the diagnosis and prevention of complications. These findings have significant clinical implications. They emphasize the need for early monitoring of gastrointestinal function in critically ill patients, preventive strategies to reduce the risk of stress ulcers and bleeding, and timely correction of intensive care protocols. The authors conclude that clinical evaluation of the gastric mucosa can serve as a prognostic criterion in critically ill patients.
