PLACE OF SUFISM AND HANAFI SCHOOLS IN THE HISTORY OF THE UZBEK IDENTITY

Abstract

Tracing the current appearance of the traditional society of the region, which expressed the intertwining of national and religious identities, one wonders what were the historical prerequisites for this identification and what mechanisms were important factors in the formation of the religious identification of modern Uzbek society. The purpose of this study is to identify the historical roots of religious identification of traditional society. The main focus is on studying the role of the Hanafi and Sufi traditions in the formation of the mentality of the people and the mechanisms of government. The weakening of the institution of Hanafism as a result of the changing nature of the religious factor in modern Uzbekistan is also analyzed.
