This article analyzes the pragmatic features of linguistic economy within the framework of speech act theory. The study examines how linguistic economy manifests itself in the process of communication and explores its relationship with locutionary, illocutionary, and perlocutionary acts from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Drawing on the fundamental principles of speech act theory, the author investigates the characteristics of linguistic economy in direct and indirect speech acts.
Using examples from literary texts, the article demonstrates how the pragmatic effectiveness of speech is achieved through such devices as reduction of linguistic units, ellipsis, implicitness, silence, and pauses. Furthermore, the significance of direct and indirect speech acts within speech act theory is scientifically analyzed, with particular attention paid to their relationship with communicative intention and forms of speech expression. Special emphasis is placed on the role of linguistic economy in poetic texts, where it preserves illocutionary force while enhancing perlocutionary impact, thereby increasing the aesthetic and emotional expressiveness of discourse.
