Abstract

This article examines the ideological mechanisms of Soviet Orientalism in cinema. The study first explores the theoretical and paradigmatic foundations of Soviet Orientalism as well as its ideological approaches to representing Eastern peoples and cultures. The films “Kidnapping, Caucasian Style” and “White Sun of the Desert” are analyzed as theoretical and methodological references for strengthening the Orientalist interpretation of the feature film Alisher Navoi. Using Alisher Navoi as a case study, the article seeks to reveal how Uzbek national culture, historical memory, and representations of the East were reconstructed and interpreted within the framework of Soviet ideology.
