THE THEORETICAL AND CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS OF MORTIMER ADLER’S PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

This article provides a theoretical and conceptual analysis of the educational philosophy of Mortimer Adler, one of the prominent representatives of twentieth-century American philosophical thought. The study examines the factors shaping Adler’s views within the context of major philosophical trends of the twentieth century, such as pragmatism, analytic philosophy, and postmodernism. In addition, Adler’s ideas on the intrinsic relationship between education and democracy, philosophy and society are analyzed, and the theoretical and practical significance of his philosophical legacy for contemporary educational systems is substantiated.
