This article analyzes the historical genesis and evolution of Oriental studies and Occidental studies based on a comparative methodological approach. The research primarily focuses on revealing the interconnection between scientific, cultural, religious, and political factors in the formation of the concepts of “us” and “the other” within Eastern and Western civilizations. In addition, the article examines the paradigms that shaped Oriental studies and Occidental studies as academic fields in different historical periods. The findings of the study provide an important theoretical basis for a deeper understanding of cultural and intellectual relations between the East and the West, as well as for identifying the historical roots of contemporary civilizational confrontations.
