Laktatsiya davrida ayollarda kognitiv, emotsional, uyqu va vegetativ o‘zgarishlar kuzatilishi mumkin. Biroq ushbu o‘zgarishlarning o‘zaro bog‘liqligi va ularni kuchaytiruvchi omillar hali to‘liq o‘rganilmagan.Laktatsiya davri ayol organizmida murakkab neyroendokrin, metabolik va psixoemotsional moslashuvlar bilan kechadi. Bu davrda xotira, diqqat va ijro funksiyalarida vaqtinchalik pasayishlar, uyqu sifati buzilishi, charchoq, xavotir va depressiv belgilar kuzatilishi mumkin. Tug‘ruqdan keyingi davrda miya faoliyatidagi funksional o‘zgarishlar, uyquning bo‘linishi, tungi uyg‘onishlar va psixologik zo‘riqish ayolning kundalik faoliyati, bola parvarishi va ijtimoiy moslashuviga ta’sir ko‘rsatadi.Shu bilan birga, emizish ayrim hollarda stress javobini kamaytirib, emotsional holatni barqarorlashtirishi mumkin. Laktatsiya davrida yuzaga keladigan kognitiv, emotsional va vegetativ o‘zgarishlarni erta aniqlash, ularning xavf omillarini baholash hamda monitoring qilish ona salomatligini saqlashda muhim ahamiyatga ega..
