Cervical-shoulder pain syndrome (CSPS) is one of the most common conditions in applied neurology and general therapeutic practice today, with a complex etiopathogenesis that sharply reduces the patient's motor activity and quality of life. This syndrome is mainly caused by cervical radiculopathy, myofascial pain syndrome, discogenic diseases and postural imbalance. This article comprehensively analyzes the effectiveness of using local anesthetics (lidocaine, procaine, etc.) in the treatment of BDNS, their pathogenetically based therapeutic effects. Local blockade temporarily stops pain impulses from reaching the central nervous system via afferent nerve fibers, which reduces or completely eliminates the sensation of pain.
