CLINICAL AND NEUROLOGICAL FEATURES AND RISK FACTORS OF PREECLAMPSIA

Preeclampsia (PE) is a multisystem complication of pregnancy that remains one of the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality. The disease is characterized by a combination of arterial hypertension and target organ damage, with the brain playing a particularly significant role. Recent studies indicate that PE and eclampsia are associated not only with acute complications but also with long-term cerebrovascular consequences. This article presents data on the prevalence of PE in different countries and regions, including Uzbekistan, where its frequency ranges from 8% to 25%. Neurological complications of PE are described in detail, including posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS), ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, and venous sinus thrombosis.
