Abstract

ABSTRACT

This article primarily examines the multidimensional investigation of "clothing" and names, encompassing diverse perspectives. It subsequently compares them across materials in various languages. Moreover, a comprehensive analysis has been conducted on works dedicated to examining the evolution of clothing terminology in English across different historical periods and contemporary English dialects. Additionally, the development of cognitive and semiotic-cultural approaches in studying the concept of footwear has been scrutinized. The intrinsic connection to the nominative function of language is evident, as the process of naming and its outcomes are also examined from pragmatic perspectives. This encompasses conveying the speaker's intentions towards the addressee and linking desires to emotions, knowledge, and aspirations. The nominative and factual characteristics of English neologisms within the fashion domain are extensively elucidated.

Keywords: Fashion, denomination, neologism, objective unity, pragmatic purpose, precedent, toponyms.
