The article briefly outlines the life and work of such outstanding scientists as William Whitney, Frank Uri Boas, Eduard Sapir, Leonard Bloomfield, Benjamin Lee Uford, Avram Noam Chomsky, who laid the foundation for American linguistics, anthropology, ethnolinguistics, linguoculturology, and provides information about the works of J.D. Himes, J. Grimberg, C. Hockett, C. Filemore, J. Lakoff, J. Searle, emphasizes the urgent need to translate the works of American linguists.
