Abstract

This study investigates the structural and semantic features of color-denoting lexicon in Uzbek (coloronyms). Adopting anthropocentric, cognitive, and linguocultural perspectives, it examines the morphological, etymological, phonological, denotative, and connotative dimensions of color terms. The research applies Berlin and Kay’s theory of universal color categories to Uzbek data and analyzes the diachronic and synchronic development of color names, their metaphorical and metonymic extensions, phraseological functions, and stylistic roles in literary texts. Special attention is given to the national and cultural specificity of Uzbek color terms. The article is grounded in recent fundamental studies and monographs in Uzbek linguistics.
