MODIFICATION OF THE TREATMENT OF TYPE 1 DIABETES IN CHILDREN AND PREVENTION OF DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

The great social significance of diabetes mellitus lies in the fact that long-term decompensation of carbohydrate metabolism disorders leads to the development of complications such as retinopathy, neuropathy, nephropathy, which are the causes of early disability.
According to various authors, from 30 to 90 percent of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus who fell ill at a young age, after 5-10 years from the onset of the disease, evening complications develop.
According to modern ideas about the pathogenesis of diabetic microangiopathies, their prevention consists mainly in achieving and maintaining stable metabolic compensation for disorders of not only carbohydrate, but also lipid metabolism. To this end, insulin preparations of various durations of action and their combinations are currently used in the treatment of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
The introduction of insulin analogs into diabetic practice makes it possible to bring insulin replacement therapy closer to the physiological endogenous secretion of the hormone. At the same time, the achievement of compensation for the disease comes with an improvement in the quality of life of patients.
