COMPOSTING CHICKEN MANURE WITH A MIXTURE OF SAWDUST AND WOOD SHAVINGS WITH FORCED AERATION IN A CLOSED REACTOR SYSTEM
Keywords:
aeration, chicken manure, sawdust, seed germination, temperature, wood shavingsAbstract
This study was aimed at achieving successful composting and aeration rates, as well as optimizing the carbon: nitrogen (C:N) ratio, providing favorable conditions for the process. Studies have been carried out on changes in the physico-chemical properties, i.e. temperature, ammonia and carbon dioxide emissions, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic matter (OM) and seed germination index (GI%) of a compostable mixture of chicken manure with sawdust and wood chips at different aeration rates in a closed reactor system.
