The purpose of the study is to study the effectiveness of Sandostatin – Lar in the treatment of giant pituitary adenoma.
Material and research methods. We studied the data of the 3x centers of Tashkent (RSSPMC Endocrinology, the Scientific Center for Neurosurgery and the Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Assistance of the PHM RUZ), according to which 68 patients with giant adenomes of the pituitary gland of various etiologies were spent in them for 3 years (2015-2017). (Of these, men are 43, women -25). Average age: men amounted to 37.12 years, women - 38, 15 years the statute of limitations ranged from 2 months to 25 years.
Research methods included: 1) general clinical (study of endocrine, neurological statuses), 2) instrumental (perimetry for all colors, eye bottom, visual acuity, 3) ECG, CT/MRI of the Turkish saddle and adrenal glands, 4) ultrasound of the internal and genitals, etc.), 5) hormonal blood tests (STH, IGF-1, LH, FSH, PRL, TSH, ACTH, prolactin, testosterone, estradiol, progesterone, cortisol (RIA serums of blood were carried out on the meters of “Gamma -12 ”and“ Strantg 300 ”). In addition, postoperative material was subjected to histological diagnosis in the RSSPMC E PHM RUZ named after Acad. Y.H. Turakulov (histology cabinet).
Results. 10 patients who received the therapy of Sandostatin Lar have a stable preservation of the medium size of the pituitary gland. While in the 2nd group- without Sandostatin Lar- there is a tendency to growth of the tumor (p <0.05)
Conclusions. Patients with giant inactive pituitary adenomas in the postoperative period should in order to prevent the growth of growth and further invasion to recommend the purpose of Sandostatin Lar for 3-6-12 months to stabilize the process.
