ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF ASPROSIN IN OBESITY AND REPRODUCTIVE DYSFUNCTION IN WOMEN

Objective. Obesity has become a global epidemic, affecting more than 600 million people worldwide. WHO reports that in 2022, 2.5 billion adults (18 years and older) were overweight. Of these, 890 million were living with obesity. In 2022, 37 million children under the age of 5 were overweight. According to statistical studies, women are more prone to excessive weight gain compared to men, and therefore, by 2025, the incidence of obesity among the female population is expected to increase to 50%. It leads to reproductive dysfunction as infertility, miscarriages, premature birth, stillbirth, congenital anomalies and prematurity and high risk of C-section. Thus it is important to explore physiology of metabolic disorders and find new diagnostic methods. In this regard, attention to the physiology of adipokines has been increasing in recent years. Aim: to study the history of discovery of adipokines, especially asprosin, chemical structure, mechanism of action, receptors, assessment of aspects related to eating behavior, insulin sensitivity, obesity, diabetes. Correlation of the amount of asprosin with anthropometric indicators, biochemical analyzes and instrumental examinations. Studying it’s importance in women's reproductive system diseases. Materials and methods: scientific literature on female reproductive system pathologies and asproin in PubMed, Medscape, Elseveir, ResearchGate, GoogleScholar electronic databases. Results: Asprosin receptors are located in various tissues and organs of the body and can cross the blood-brain barrier. It was positively correlated with BMI (body mass index), cholesterol, and blood glucose. The change in the amount of asprosin in accordance with the menstrual cycle of women and its increase in proportion to the concentration of testosterone in women shows the effect on the female reproductive system. Conclusion: obesity is now becoming a global problem. This causes the increase of infertility especially among women of reproductive age. This creates the need for a deeper study of the pathophysiology of obesity, development of new methods for diagnosis and treatment. Although many studies have been conducted on asprosin and results have been obtained, many mechanisms are still unexplored and require further research.
