Abstract

This article presents the results of surgical treatment of fractures of the head of the condyle of the humerus in children. The paper analyzes the results of examination and treatment of 42 children with HBM fractures. The age of patients varies from 3 to 17 years. By gender, boys 24 (57.1%) and girls 18 (42.9%). According to the duration of the injury in 26 (61.9%) patients up to 3 days (group I) and in 16 (38.1%) more than 3 weeks (group II). All patients underwent clinical and instrumental research methods. The patient underwent open reposition of the head of the condyle of the humerus. In patients of group I, 26 (61.9%) patients due to timely diagnosis and treatment received excellent results in 22 (84.6%) and 4 (15.4%) good results, group II patients 16 (38.1%) ), in 9 (56.3%) good, in 4 (25%) satisfactory and in 3 (18.7%) unsatisfactory results in the form of nonunion and pseudoarthrosis of the head of the condyle. These patients underwent reoperation. Timely diagnosis, skillful implementation of surgical methods for a fracture of the HBM prevents complications: improper union and pseudoarthrosis. Fixation of the fragment according to the proposed technique allows for sure stability and prevention of secondary displacement of the fragment.
