Abstract

This article provides a critical analysis of the scientific literature on the impact of the pandemic on mental health. The new coronavirus pandemic has changed many aspects of healthcare. A literature search and review was conducted to identify scientific literature linking psychiatric outcomes and practice changes related to coronavirus and the disease it causes (COVID-19). 6 articles were selected for inclusion. The literature describes the early psychiatric consequences of coronavirus that have been studied through cross-sectional surveys among various populations; Among the psychiatric consequences most frequently mentioned are anxiety disorders, affective disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and, to a lesser extent, psychotic disorder, no study included data on functional diagnostic methods. The evidence base on the psychiatric consequences of the coronavirus is rapidly accumulating. As evidence accumulates, psychiatric practice must also adapt significantly to the context of the pandemic. However, there are still significant gaps in scientific knowledge. Especially in the field of long-term consequences for the mental well-being of the current coronovirus infection.
