Abstract

Purpose of the study: to identify risk factors for the development of parastomal complications in the early postoperative period.

Materials and methods: The study included 272 patients who underwent surgical treatment in the Coloproctology Department of the University Clinical Hospital No. 1 named after S.R. Mirotvortsev during 2021–2025. As a result of the surgical treatment stage, all patients had an intestinal stoma formed on the anterior abdominal wall. A prospective analysis of patients and medical records was carried out followed by statistical processing of the obtained data.

Results: Data analysis revealed several characteristics that significantly differed between the compared groups of patients and may serve as risk factors for the development of early parastomal complications.

Conclusion: Risk factors for the development of early parastomal complications were identified.
