CLINICAL AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF THE PREVENTION OF PERIODONTAL DISEASES CAUSED BY DRINKING WATER SUPPLY FROM UNDERGROUND RESERVOIRS
Abstract
To conduct a clinical and epidemiological assessment of the effectiveness of a set of preventive measures (drinking water purification, occupational hygiene, training) to reduce the incidence of inflammatory periodontal diseases in the population using underground drinking water sources.
200 people (18-65 years old) participated in the prospective study. Clinical examination (CPITN, PMA, IGI-S), questionnaires, laboratory analysis of water (hardness, nitrates, iron, fluorine, coli- index) were conducted. Household three-stage filters, one professional hygiene procedure (ultrasound
+ AIR-FLOW) and an educational program have been introduced; repeated inspection after 6 months.
