MULTIPARAMETRIC ULTRASOUND EXAMINATION OF SKIN IN CHILDREN: TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND AGE-RELATED NORMATIVE VALUES ASSESSMENT

Multiparametric ultrasound (MPUS) is a modern and safe method for evaluating skin structure in children. A total of 40 healthy children aged 3 months to 17 years were examined. High-resolution B-mode, Doppler imaging, and compression elastography enabled the establishment of age-specific norms for dermal thickness, subcutaneous tissue, RI, and strain ratio. Dermal thickness increased with age, peaking during puberty, while RI and strain ratio remained stable. The use of a water-based stand-off pad significantly improved visualization of the epidermis and dermis and enhanced measurement accuracy. The findings demonstrate the reproducibility and diagnostic value of MPUS and support its use in pediatric dermatology.
