Abstract

Modic changes are pathological changes in the vertebrae and its end plates in the form of bone marrow edema, fatty degeneration or osteosclerosis, detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The main clinical picture with Modic is persistent dorsalgia of varying severity, which often causes difficulties in diagnosis and treatment. Modern information on pathogenesis, classification, clinical manifestations and treatment is presented.
