Maqolada fenomenga asoslangan ta'lim deb ataladigan yangi Finlyandiya ta'lim yondashuvi va boshqa ta'lim yondashuvlari o'rtasidagi asosiy o'xshashlik va farqlar, jumladan, harakatga asoslangan yondashuv, vazifaga asoslangan yondashuv, muammoga asoslangan o'rganish, so'rovga asoslangan o'rganish, kommunikativ tilni o'rgatish yondashuvi va loyihaga asoslangan yondashuv. Qiyosiy tahlil har bir ta'lim yondashuvining asosiy xususiyatlarini ta'kidlab, tadqiqotchilarning turli nuqtai nazarlari orqali berilgan. Shuningdek, u barcha ta'lim yondashuvlarini birlashtirgan va o'quvchiga yo'naltirilganlikka qaratilgan gumanistik psixologiya qoidalarini yoritadi.
