Maqolada O'rta Osiyoda o'zbek tilining holati va tarixi, xorijiy tillar bilan aloqasi, o'zbek tilini rivojlantirishdagi davlat siyosati, ruscha iboralarning o'zbek nutqiga ta'siri tahlil qilingan. Maqola o'zbek tilini jamiyat hayotidagi amaliy kuzatuvlar natijasidir. Maqola o'zbek nutqida rus tilidan olingan iboralarni o'rganish nuqtai nazaridan muhimdir. Unga oid savollar o'zbek sotsiolingvistikasida eng ko'p o'rganilgan maqolalar qatoriga kiradi. Shu munosabat bilan maqolada keltirilgan ba'zi fikrlar munozarali bo'lishi mumkin.
