Gektor Malot va Teodor Drayzer o‘z asarlarida naturalizm, realizm va optimizmni uyg‘unlashtirib, ijtimoiy sharoit va muhit shakllangan qahramonlarni xarakterlaydi. Ularning realizmi kundalik kurashlarni aks ettiradi, ularning naturalistik linzalari esa taqdir va vaziyatlarning ta‘sirchan natijalarini ko‘rsatadi. Achchiq haqiqatlarga qaramay, asosiy optimizm saqlanib qolmoqda, chunki qahramonlar shaxsiy rivojlanish va o‘zgarishlarga intilishda davom etmoqda.
