DEFINITION OF CERTAINTY AND UNCERTAINTY IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

Abstract

The communicative function of the article (as well as other words) is to serve as a means of expanding the intent of the message into the text. The article is one of the means of realizing the property of text coherence. At the same time, the use of one or another article also expresses the content-structural division of the text: the indefinite article divides the text into content-complete blocks. A fragment of text with a noun introduced by a definite article may contain information about the beginning of dramatic events, and may be the final one in the described situation. The indefinite article, on the contrary, helps to convey information about the turn in the events described, since its semantics contributes to the expression of something new.
