ISSUES ON THE DICHOTOMY OF LANGUAGE AND SPEECH

Abstract

This article deals with the issues based on the dichotomy of language and speech, one of the topics that have been debated by linguists around the world for many years. The article discusses the results of research conducted by European and Eastern linguists on many issues, such as the relationship of language and speech, diachrony and synchrony, the fact that language is a system of systems, speech acquisition. The issue under consideration is characterized by the fact that the notes made by oriental scholars have been subjected to scientific analysis from the point of view of modern science. It is narrated with examples that scholars began to express their views on this subject in XI century. The author also argues that the ideas about speech activity, the process of attitude to language use, the attitude to language itself, linguistic and speech culture, the qualities of a perfect human being were expressed in different forms at that time, and confirms that this issue will continue.
