Abstract

This article deals with the image of “horse” in English idioms. In particular, theories and analyzes of the horse by several English literary and linguistic scholars are given. At the same time, the importance and etymology of the image of "horse" in phraseology is not accidental, as it was created in English literature. In general, the main criteria for the study of theoretical issues in the literature are the comparative-typological study of works that create the image of "horse", a look at the genesis of this image, the discovery of symbolic meanings.
