Abstract

The study scientifically covers the stages of development of compound sentences from the ancient Turkic period to the modern Uzbek literary language. In particular, it is substantiated that in the early periods, complex thoughts were expressed through a sequence of simple sentences, and later complex syntactic constructions were formed using grammatical means, subordinating conjunctions and suffixes. The development of compound sentences with subordinating conjunctions, their grammatical and semantic features, and the possibilities of their use in literary texts are also analyzed.
