SEMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN ENGLISH: POLYSEMY AND HOMONYMY

The focus of this article is on the examination of colloquial English phraseological units, namely homonymous and polysemantic phraseologisms, by delving into numerous semantic connections at the language level. Language units are characterized by the possibility of many meanings, and phraseological units can also experience this circumstance. However, the metaphorical nature of phraseological polysemy sets it apart from lexical polysemy. In this article, this imagery is proved with the help of examples.
