OPTIMIZATION OF NEUROVISUALIZATION AND SURGICAL ACCESSES FOR TUMORS OF FUNCTIONALLY SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF THE BRAIN IN CHILDREN

Abstract

Tumors localized in the functionally significant areas of the brain in children represent one of the most complex problems of modern neurosurgery. Preoperative diagnosis using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI, and diffusion-tensor tractography is a key factor in successful surgical intervention. This study is aimed at optimizing neuroimaging methods and surgical approaches for tumors of the functional zones of the brain in children. The study included 80-120 patients, of whom 40 received a comprehensive MRI diagnosis using f-MRI and DT-MRI, and 40 constituted the control group. Structural features of tumors, interaction with motor, speech, and sensory zones, variants of surgical approaches, frequency of complications, and functional outcomes are analyzed. The integrated use of expanded MRI methods has made it possible to increase the accuracy of preoperative planning, reduce the risk of critical structural damage, and improve postoperative recovery. The obtained results can contribute to the optimization of surgical tactics and improve the quality of life of patients.
