Abstract

The use of geographic information technologies (GIS) in public health opens up new opportunities for spatial analysis of population health indicators. In the context of Uzbekistan, where there is territorial heterogeneity in access to medical services and the spread of diseases, the use of GIS allows identifying epidemiological risks, planning preventive measures and optimizing the distribution of health resources. This article analyzes the role of GIS in public health research, describes examples of their application in Uzbekistan, and discusses the prospects for integrating spatial analysis into national health programs. The advantages, limitations and promising areas of technology development to improve the efficiency of monitoring and management of the public health system are considered.
