Abstract

The results of studies on the role of the hormones cortisol and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) in the diagnosis of cognitive impairment and dementia in Parkinson's disease (PD) are presented, as well as the reasons for the relationship of cognitive impairments are described. We examined 40 patients with PD, who were divided depending on the presence or absence of cognitive impairment and dementia. The diagnostic efficacy of neurosteroids, including the level of DHEAS and cortisol in the blood serum of patients, was established for early diagnosis of cognitive impairment and control of the effectiveness of therapy, and identification of a risk group in PD.
