Forensic linguistic expertise has become a type of forensic expertise. As one of the new directions of applied philology, there is a need to elucidate the essence of linguistic expertise, create theoretical methodological bases, and develop its methodology. Cases of defamation are widely studied as a component of linguistic expertise. In recent times, the number of applicants for defamation cases has been increasing. This creates the need to develop a unified methodology for these cases and define expert approaches. The article includes the classification of cases of defamation of a person, as well as comments on the creation of legal methodological bases for it.
