Abstract

Sixty-eight children with exogenous-constitutional obesity were examined. A study was conducted to determine risk factors for obesity from the perspective of perinatal metabolic programming. Key risk factors for obesity in children were found to include high or low birth weight, accelerated weight gain in the first two years of life, impaired fetoplacental circulation, obesity, and maternal metabolic disorders. Feeding patterns in the first year of life, including excessive protein intake, were also significant.
